Author's POV
The chilling evening where people were busy with their work. Some were leaving work to go home, kids were playing in the park, some were taking evening walks, and everyone was occupied with their own lives. But here was the myth ,a shadow sleeping peacefully in the chilly weather under a duvet. His mansion, his rule. No one worked for him. No one. The mansion itself belonged to the shadow, the unseen one.
He was sleeping peacefully when a loud ring disturbed his sleep. He knew who it was because, of course, no one had his number. I mean, no one. He didn't open his eyes. He simply picked up the phone and placed it against his ear.
"Yes."
The next voice came through the phone.
"Dev, I don't know what you're gonna do, but I want this man dead without a trace. I've sent you the information. Go through it and finish him."
That's it.
The call ended.
It actually ended.
Dev slowly opened his eyes and looked at the information.
"Ram Mehar."
"Hmm..."
He tracked the number.
"A mall."
"Hmm... fine."
He grabbed his gun and left.
Time to hunt the prey.
Ram was buying groceries and was about to get into his car when he saw DK. Of course, he knew DK. That's exactly why Kaivan had ordered Dev to kill him.
DK looked at him and smirked.
"Hi, Mehar."
Ram didn't waste even a second. The grocery bags slipped from his hands as he ran for his life.
Dev simply followed him.
Not too fast.
Not too slow.
Just enough to let fear consume him.
Ram kept running until he suddenly collided with someone.
No...
Not someone.
The person he was trying to escape.
DK.
Ram slowly looked up, only to meet those emotionless eyes staring directly into his soul.
Without another word, Dev wrapped his hand around Ram's neck and started choking him.
Ram struggled.
He fought.
He begged with his eyes.
But Dev's grip only tightened.
A few moments later...
Silence.
That's it.
It was the end of Ram.
He was dead.
Dev let go of his lifeless body and felt a strange sense of satisfaction. As he turned around, his eyes landed on a girl standing a few feet away.
She looked like she was in her early twenties.
Her eyes were wide with shock.
No...
What had she just witnessed?
A murder.
Her lips parted slightly as fear froze her body.
No...
Her mind screamed.
Meanwhile, Dev simply stared at her.
Interesting.
Most people would've run by now.
But she was still standing there.
His lips curved ever so slightly.
In a chilling voice, he spoke.
"I don't leave witnesses."
He took one step toward her.
She instinctively took one step back.
He moved another step.
She stepped back again until her back hit the cold wall behind her.
She shut her eyes tightly, expecting death.
Instead...
Dev reached for the ID card hanging around her neck.
He glanced at it.
"Aishwary Roy."
His eyes moved to the designation.
"Market Executive."
A faint smirk appeared on his lips.
"Cute."
That was all he said.
He dropped the ID back against her chest, turned around, and walked away, leaving behind a completely broken Aishwary in the lonely alley.
Aishwary's POV
The moment he disappeared, she finally found the strength to move.
She ran.
She didn't even know where she was running.
No...
I never saw anything.
I didn't see anything.
But...
A person had just been murdered.
Right in front of her.
How?
She somehow reached her apartment, rushed inside, and slammed the door shut before locking it.
Her hands were shaking.
Should I call the police?
But...
He didn't kill me.
That doesn't mean he won't kill me later.
What if he's coming after me next?
What if his men are watching me right now?
No...
No...
Am I thinking too much?
Or am I not thinking enough?
She buried her face in her hands.
"No... I have to find him."
"I'll find him."
"I'll tell him I never saw anything."
"Maybe... maybe he'll let me go."
She suddenly stood up.
"Yes!"
"I'll find him."
"Damn it... I will."
She sat down with a pencil and a blank sheet of paper.
If she couldn't remember his name...
She could remember his face.
Slowly, she started sketching him.
This will help me... right?
Yes... it will.
After finishing the sketch, she changed into comfortable clothes and searched for her sleeping pills.
She stared at the bottle for a long moment.
I thought I had recovered...
But not anymore.
She swallowed the pill with trembling hands and lay down on the bed.
Before sleep consumed her, only one thought echoed inside her mind.
I will find you.
Dev's POV
A girl.
No...
A witness.
He didn't care about witnesses.
At least, that's what he wanted to believe.
He pulled out his phone and called his brother.
"Yes, Dev."
"I left the witness."
There was silence.
Then Kaivan spoke.
"Name?"
"Aishwary Roy."
"Fine."
Just before ending the call, Dev spoke again.
"Brown eyes."
Kaivan froze for a second.
"Brown eyes..."
"Hmm..."
"Dev... forget her."
Dev didn't wait for another word.
He disconnected the call.
Brown eyes.
Captive.
Cute.
Terrified.
But...
Interesting.
